Netflix’s Devil May Cry Anime Hits the Jackpot in 2025

Another year, another Netflix event with glimpses of future shows and movies. Last year saw the grand reveal of the upcoming anime adaptation for Devil May Cry, and we got another trailer during Netflix Geeked Week, but with a twist: we now know it’s finally coming in April 2025.

This new peek at the series—which hails from Castlevania producer Adi Shankar and animation by X-Men ’97’s Studio Mir—offers up a better idea of what it’s going for, and the series lead Dante. The Devil Hunter sure looks and moves like he does in the games, but there’s a bit of twist to things. In the anime, he’s voiced by Power Rangers alum Johnny Young Bosch, who also plays the franchise’s sort of co-lead, Nero. (Oh, and he’s Dante’s nephew, as we officially learned in Devil May Cry 5 back in 2019.) In the games, Dante’s been voiced by Reuben Langdon, but this iteration of the character is on the younger end, so what’s the deal there?

Franchise fans noted the series might be borrowing elements from Tokyopop’s manga for Devil May Cry 3. In that, Dante takes on a contract to find a girl named Alice who was a kidnapped by a demon possessing her childhood doll. Said demon goes by “White Rabbit,” and sure enough, this trailer ends with a humanoid white rabbit, sipping tea and sitting next to a toy doll. The manga was split into three parts (with only two actually getting released), and aside from that tease, the anime otherwise seems to be its own thing. It’s still not fully clear if this is meant to link up with the games or exist in its own separate canon, but we’ll find out closer to Devil May Cry dropping in April.
